Emperor Champagne Case Study

Emperor Champagne Case Study

Emperor Champagne is an e-commerce platform that offers an expertly curated collection of champagne with superior service and knowledge. We were excited to partner with the company as we realised there was a massive gap in the market for a leading online retailer dedicated to champagne. Both companies saw equity crowdfunding as a perfect way to involve customers and lovers of the golden bubbles, inviting them to join Emperor on their global expansion journey.

Crowdfunding Australia

Champagne is one of the oldest drinks and is often associated with royalty and luxury. It is a type of sparkling wine that is produced in the Champagne region of France which has the most unique climate in the world.

According to statistics, the champagne market in Australia has grown dramatically in the past 5 years, averaging 11% pa. However, there is a lack of variety and consumers often feel overcharged and under-serviced. That’s why Kyla Kirkpatrick, CEO and Founder of Emperor Champagne, decided to use her unparalleled knowledge of the drink and the region, as well as her relationships with the champagne houses, to launch the Home of Champagne.

Before equity crowdfunding, Emperor raised $700,000 to facilitate activities during the early stages of the business. The next raise closed at $510,000 and was used to boost marketing and drive talent acquisition. Through equity crowdfunding we achieved a total of $559,360 smashing the minimum funding target of $250,000. There were 87 investors, some of which were Emperor customers.

Emperor Champagne has planned to use these funds to expand globally to  Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Japan, America and beyond.

During the raise, Emperor was featured in many publications such as Startup Company, Startup Daily and The Carousel.
